For the best, fun, expressive results, use an Apple Pencil. It is the only stylus that supports natural pressure sensitivity, which allows you to play with variable line width in a single stroke. Line variation is an essential part of my work, and I reference it a lot in this course.

Important note: if you don’t have an Apple Pencil for your iPad but intend to get one, please be sure to double check that you are getting the correct model Apple Pencil that works with your iPad. (Don’t buy the version that charges via USB-C. it doesn’t support pressure sensitivity.)
